Exploding head

Oil on canvas.

Dreams

The baby sleeping is painted using watercolor. The dream that the baby is having is of dancers. There is music creating the dream that is flowing into his ear. The details of the dream were created using acrylic paint.

Fish

This piece was done using watercolor paint.

Touch

The focus of this piece is touch. The dancers main features are painted in acrylic and the negative space done with water color shows through the less important curves in the body. Detail mocking the strong curves in value were made with plastic sheets. Tracings of fingerprints create the designs on the plastic.
This is a mixed media piece that started out as a gesture drawing. The pieces of the body that end in strong joints were cut apart and mixed together with other bodies. the pieces were partially mounted on a sheet of canvas and enhanced with oil paints.

Perspective

The purpose of this project was to learn how to create depth using color. I focused on keeping the warm colors in the front and cool colors in the back. The detail is strong in the flowers in the foreground and mesh as space moves back.

Color Scales

Here, I practiced creating value with color. The goal was to create a scale from white to black in the form of red, yellow, and blue. Below is a color wheel.

Show your stripes

This is my first assignment for Color 113. I was asked to experiment with color using acrylic paints. I was given painters tape to create lines and created a design from there. I enjoyed discovering what color combinations pleased me the most when trying to make a successful composition.
